Stanton TX.
Day one Friday Dec. 13, 2013:
We arrive to a warm welcome to St Josephs Church Hall, where the Guadalupanos are waiting for us as we come here to join them in their celebration of the Virgin de Guadalupe. We were invited to come dance for them at this event. As we walked into the hall we were welcomed with open arms and a table filled with food, hot coffee, and other goodies. “Welcome and make yourself at home” those words set me at peace and comfort. Our host had good above and beyond their way to make sure we felt at home. We ate, stayed up and engaged in good conversation as we waited of other members of our Dancers to arrive, as they made their way to Stanton from Fabens TX. Needless to say that this was a very powerful meaningful night and I was blessed to have met such good people.
Day two Saturday Dec 14, 2013:
There is nothing like waking up to the smell of fresh coffee and bacon cooking. Yes our host showed up early to cook breakfast early in the morning to get the day started. As we sat down to enjoy some bacon and eggs a few other ladies showed up with fresh tamales for us. Once again feeling blessed and overwhelmed with love I kept thinking this is like being in Isleta Publo NM or at one of my family's houses. After we had our share of tamales it was time to get ready for the mass and procession after the mass. The procession is always nice to do especially when there is no traffic, and here in Stanton there was no traffic it was very peaceful and quite. This reminded of Clint and San Elizario 30 years when I was a young child and there were less people living there.
After a small procession around the block we dance in front of the hall. We got good feedback and praise from all the locals who and come out for this event. We danced hard and strong sending out our prayers for about 2 hrs, before we took a small break for lunch. Like many other placed we danced this pass month they served us Menudo. However, this menudo was made with love and kindness that it teased very good. This litter break allowed us to spend time with some of the locals to talk and just get some rest before we were to dance again. Needless to say we dance on and off all day, finally finishing at about 8:00 pm. When we were done our host invited us to go have dinner in Midland TX. Once again our host went beyond the call of service and they surprised us by taking care of our bill. We had truly been blessed with good people on this day.

Day Three Sunday Dec 15, 2013:
Today I woke up early thinking that this was one of
the best road trip in a long time. I count my blessing and thank the creator
for allowing me to have such a wonderful and blessed weekend. I ask the creator
and the Virgin to watch over our host and this community as they continue to do
the Lords work. As I was reflecting back on the last two days, I had sat down
and write my thoughts before I forget. Someone told me I should write stuff
down as it comes to me, and for the first time in a long time I have just done
that. Now it’s time to pack up and head back home. Life is a true blessing and
have been very very good to me so far!!
